Prevention is the
Intervention
Building skills before the difficult moment.
Control the Moment is a Tier 1 social and emotional learning curriculum for students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. It gives every student a foundation for understanding emotions, coping with stress, and responding to difficult moments before more intensive support is needed.
40%
of U.S. high school students reported persistent sadness or hopelessness in 2023.
CDC Youth Risk Behavior Survey, 2023
Most support starts after a child is already struggling.
By the time a student is identified, referred, or in crisis, the problem may have been growing for months or even years. Students whose struggles are quiet or hidden can be missed entirely.
REACTIVE SUPPORT
Begins before a concern becomes a crisis.
Reaches students whose needs have already been recognized.
Often begins with referral to limited support staff.
Can depend on staff capacity and service availability.
CONTROL THE MOMENT
Begins before a crisis develops.
Reaches every student, including those whose needs are not yet visible.
Is delivered by the classroom teacher as part of the school day.
Builds a universal foundation within the existing school day.
